One of the very first struggles I had when converting from a table based layout to a full CSS layout was how to get my sidebar to expand with the main content of the page. With tables it was easy; just fill your sidebar cell with your background of choice and "we're off to the races".
When making the transition to CSS I couldn't quite grasp how to achieve that same style without the use of tables and this can be a challenge for anyone delving in HTML and CSS for the first time.
